Great lyricist, Legend of telugu film industry Veturi Sundararama Murthy died of heart attack in a hospital at Hyderabad on 22nd May 2010.
Veturi took his last breath at 9:30 PM in Care Hospital, Hyderabad due to internal bleeding in Kidneys and cardiac arrest on Saturday night. He was admitted to the hospital two days ago and was kept in ICU.
Veturi was born on 29th January, 1936 in Peda kallepalli near Mopidevi, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. Father's name is Chandrasekhar sastry and mother's name is Kamalamba.
Veturi Completed his schooling in Diviseema, Jaggayyapeta, Vijayawada in Krishna district, SSC in his grandmother's village. Later veturi went to chennai for his intermediate and come back to Vijayawada .He completed his degree in SR Govt college Vijayawada.
He started out his career as journalist for prominent magazines like Andhra Patrika and Andhra Prabha before becoming a lyricist. While working as a journalist, Veturi got his first break in movies through K. Viswanath. His first film is “ O Sita Katha” and last film Villan( Starring Abhisek bachan, Aishwarya and Vikram directed by Maniratnam).
He was the second lyricist from Telugu film industry to win the National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the song Raalipoye puvva neeku ragaalenduke from the Movie Maathrudevobhava in the year 1994. He also received the AP government’s Nandi award more than eight times.
