Is YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy preparing to overthrow the Kiran Kumar Reddy government? Is YSR Congress Party President Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy preparing to Jagan to launch new political party.
The developments in his camp point towards such a possibility. Emboldened by the reports of a massive victory for the party in the recently-held by-elections in Kadapa district, the fledgling party is said to have set its eyes on pulling down the Congress government to announce its arrival on the state political scene with a bang.
It is said that Jagan has set aside a whopping Rs 500 crore for the Operation Demolition. Each MLA will be offered Rs 5 to Rs 10 crore to switch loyalty. The thinking in the YSR Congress Party is that it is the right time to pull off a political coup. The imminent big win in Kadapa, a perceived wave of sympathy and goodwill for Jagan and utter confusion in both the ruling Congress and the main opposition Telugu Desam Party camps would provide an ideal platform to destabilize the government.
The Operation Demolition is expected to be put in place sooner than later and the developments may happen at a rapid fire pace, a banner story in “Andhra Jyothy” said.
It speculated over three options before Jagan to unseat the government, each requiring a different set of numbers ranging from 35 to 85 MLAs. In the first scenario, the rebel camp requires at least 35 MLAs to overthrow the government, provided the other opposition parties including TDP and Telangana Rashtra Samithi also join the move to bring down the government. At present, the Congress has 155 MLAs in the 294-member Assembly, just seven more than the half-way mark required to stay in power. Sensing trouble from Jagan camp long back, it has already roped in the actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi. His 30-month-old Praja Rajyam Party has merged with the ruling party, providing it the much-needed support in the event of a showdown. The PRP has 18 legislators in the House. All these numbers have relevance only when there is absolutely loyalty from all the legislators to their respective parties.

It remains to be seen whether TDP will take part in the destabilization game. It is already plagued with internal problems and Telangana trouble and is in no mood for fresh elections.
Another report in “Andhra Jyothy” on the ongoing T-trouble in TDP said that senior legislator from Warangal district Eraballi Dayakar Rao is likely to be made convener of the party’s Telangana Forum replacing Nagam Janardhan Reddy who had quit recently. The party chief N Chandrababu Naidu is in the process of reconstituting and broad-basing the forum to avoid recurrence of controversies that dogged the party when Nagam was the convener.
The sudden resignation of Praja Rajyam Party MLA Anna Rambabu was also given prominent coverage in the media, along with the party chief Chiranjeevi’s meetings with the Congress central leaders in Delhi.
