Chennai: Tamil movie superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of St. Isabel Hospital in Chennai on Friday after a bout of vomiting in the morning, doctors said. He was discharged in the evening. Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi and his daughter Kanimozhi visited Rajinikanth at the hospital and enquired about his health.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, the actor's wife Lata Rajinikanth said he had eaten something in the morning and started throwing up. On Friday morning, Rajinikanth was shooting for the movie "Rana" in Chennai. He is doing a triple role in the film. Directed by KS Ravikumar, "Rana" is being produced by Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya's Ochre Studios in association with Eros International. CHENNAI: Superstar Rajinikanth was taken to St Isabel's Hospital in Mylapore here on Friday after he complained of fatigue and vomiting on the first day of shooting for his coming film Rana.

Doctors attending on him said he was admitted for was dehydration and exhaustion. "He was in the intensive care unit. We gave him fluid replacement and medicines for mild stomach infection," said Dr CV Krishnaswamy, who attended on him.

According to sources, Rajini complained of breathing difficulty in the morning. His private physician, Dr M Balasubramaniam, sent him to the hospital for fluid replacements and rest, and he was discharged from hospital in the evening.

The actor is playing a triple role in the movie directed by K S Ravikumar, with whom he had earlier done Padayappa' and Muthu'. Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi along with Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, coming out of St. Isabel Hospital after visiting actor Rajnikanth, in Chennai on Friday. Rajnikanth's daughter Aishwarya Dhanush is in the picture.
